Schools & Districts

The Allegheny Intermediate Unit exists to provide services to schools and districts.  Those services are provided to public, private and parochial schools throughout Allegheny County.

The AIU not only provides services to schools, but we run our own schools as well.

PA Learners Online (PALO) Cyber Charter School runs out of the AIU Central Office in Homestead.  Teachers and students communicate and conduct classes over the Internet using a computer provided by PALO.

Three Special Education Centers are run by the AIU. Mon Valley School, Sunrise School, and the Pathfinder School are all operated by the AIU.  Each school provides a unique learning experience for students with special needs.

Bullying Policy Learn More

The Allegheny Intermediate Unit Board of Directors recognizes the need to maintain a learning and working environment that is free from bullying and harassment. The AIU prohibits any and all forms of bullying as it violates the basic right of students and staff to be in a safe, orderly learning environment. This policy promotes positive interpersonal relationships among all members of the Allegheny Intermediate Unit community.
