Professional development consultation and services are provided for school improvement, strategic planning, planned course development, research based instructional practices, implementation of academic standards, technology integration and content deepening seminars in reading, math and science.
Continuing Professional Education
The Currriculum, Instruction and Professional Development department provides a variety of customized professional education options to teachers, administrators, and other school staff.
Math and Science Collaborative
The MSC coordinates efforts and focuses resources on strengthening mathematics and science education. Through its Math & Science Partnership, the collaborative hosts leadership academies and seminars.
Professional Development Opportunities
CPE offers certified teachers opportunities to earn continuing education credits through various course offerings. Courses are offered throughout the school year and summer, and credits can be used to fulfill Act 48 requirements, to earn a Master’s Equivalency, and to fulfill requirements of Level II certification.
Reading Achievement Center
Services and support designed to increase student learning and achievement in reading. The program provides educators in Allegheny County schools access to professional development, high quality materials, and resources to transform and sustain effective reading instruction pre-K through Grade 12.
ADAPT
ADAPT is a professional development program which provides teachers with models to follow for adapting instruction and assessment materials for elementary and secondary students.
IDEA Training and Consultation
Training and Consultation Coordinators are available to provide technical assistance and professional development in presentation, interpretation and implementation of all phases of this federal law.
